About the reporter:

Wei Qiang, Ph.D., associate professor, Bamboo Research Institute, Nanjing Forestry University. He received his bachelor's degree in biology from Sichuan University in 2004 and his doctor's degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from Fudan University in 2009. From 2012 to 2013, visiting scholar of Cornell University. Since July 2015, he has been an associate professor of Nanjing Forestry University. He has successively presided over 1 national key R & D plan project (sub project level), 2 National Natural Science Funds, 1 China Postdoctoral fund, 1 general natural science project of Jiangsu University, and was selected into the youth top talent training plan of Nanjing Forestry University. Dr. Wei Qiang mainly used reverse genetics, cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology and other experimental methods, combined with modern high-throughput sequencing and other experimental techniques, to carry out research on the growth and development of Bamboo Culms, and committed to apply these technologies and research results to the genetic improvement of bamboo plants. The main research results are published in the mainstream international journals such as new physiologist, plant biotechnology journal, tree physiology, etc.
