The Key Laboratory of Energy Plants Resource and Utilization, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs is an important component of the development and utilization discipline group for agricultural renewable energies. It mainly focuses on the key issues of the energy plant resources and utilization in China, and conducts research on application basis and application technology. The laboratory now has 45 fixed members, including 15 people with senior titles, 13 doctoral supervisors, 15 people with secondary senior titles, and 35 people with doctoral degrees. The average age of the main academic leaders is about 46 years old, and 80% of academic leaders have experience in studying and researching abroad. Since 2006, the Key Laboratory of Energy Plants Resource and Utilization, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has undertaken 91 national, provincial and ministerial-level joint and enterprise projects, including 24 national-level projects, with a total project funds of more than 56.43 million yuan; published 177 papers, obtained 14 patents, including 11 invention patents; conducted 8 project identifications, 2 technology transfers, and won 3 national, provincial and ministerial-level awards. The laboratory mainly solves the key scientific problems of energy plant resources and utilization, and actively carries out scientific research on the construction of energy plant resources and utilization disciplines and the resource environment, economic development and energy demand in South China; researches species involving important energy forests, crops and grasses; researches areas involving energy plant germplasm resources collection, preservation and evaluation; energy plant breeding; cultivation techniques of energy plants for both top quality and high yield; energy utilization of plant resources; establishes China's energy plant resources and utilization technology integration theory and model, provides a scientific basis for solving the major demand for energy plant resources in China; proposes the development strategy of energy plant resources and utilization based on the core technology.
